Dr. Constantin participates in the Minnesota Mission of Mercy Event

On August 18, Dr. Constantin participated in the first Mission of Mercy event held in Minnesota.  Dr. Constantin joined the efforts of hundreds of volunteers to provide those in need with adequate dental care.

Hosted by the Minnesota Dental Association and the Minnesota Dental Foundation, the Mission of Mercy event took place in Mankato and delivered $1.3 million worth of free dental care to more than 2000 patients, adults and children.  The Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato was transformed into a giant temporary dental office that included over 25,000 square feet of space with over 125 portable dental chairs, 16 sterilization units, and 10 x-ray units.  The signature sponsor of the event was Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation.  

Mission of Mercy was the culmination of two years of planning by Minnesota dentists who were concerned about the growing number of adults and children not receiving proper care.  The Minnesota Dental Foundation raised more than $319,000 in donations to cover the costs of the event.

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month!

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDH), a month dedicated to promoting and raising awareness about oral health for children.  The effects of early childhood dental health have been shown to decrease the risk of disease in later years of life. Poor dental habits exhibited in early childhood often continue into adulthood, with potential to affect speech, nutrition, economic productivity, and even the overall quality of life. Therefore, good oral health must start in the early years of our children’s lives.

Dr. Constantin and Dr. Stark want you to remember that developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
